How is the reading program delivered by Phonics Fanatics different from other reading programs?

This reading program allows your child to be assessed on the knowledge he/she already knows and build his/her understanding from the knowledge he/she already has. It is a precise step-by-step program with known outcomes and expectations. It allows your child to interact with the words, letters and vocabulary in a variety of ways so that he/she establishes certainty with the letters, words and vocabulary.

Applied Scholastics International® developed this reading program with  L. Ron Hubbard's Study Technology.


What are the barriers to learning?


According to Learning How to Learn  based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard


Lack of Mass:

The first barrier to study is not having the real thing there that you are studying about.

This reading program prevents your child from running into that barrier by providing pictures, video, the opportunity to illustrate, dramatize, etc... the words, letters, and/or terms  he/she is learning about.

The Skipped Gradient:

This is the second barrier of study; a learner encounters this barrier when the learner skips a step when learning a step-by-step process. 

The reading program we use is systematically developed to build your child's understanding in a step-by-step manner so that he/she is not confused by the way the English language develops words, their pronunciation and meaning. It also establishes certainty in applying the rules of the English language. 

For example, teaching children to read words without teaching them the sounds letters make would be a skipped gradient.


The Misunderstood Word:

The third and most important barrier is the misunderstood word. This occurs when a learner hears or goes by a word that he/she doesn't understand or a word that he/she has the wrong definition for.

This reading program ensures your child completely understands the various terms that are used throughout the instructional session as well as ALL the words he/she encounters while developing his/her literacy.
